Day One: Somebody call 111 because today ākonga will be demonstrating how to respond in emergency situations as a security officer. Ākonga will also understand roles, responsibilities, and legal authorities of security officers - including knowing how much force can be used in different situations.
Day Two: I spy a potential weapon, intoxicated person, and slippery surface. Today ākonga will identify common hazards in security contexts and learn how to manage risks to reduce harm. Roger that! Ākonga will also learn and apply the phonetic alphabet, 24-hour clock, and brevity codes.
Day Three: Enjoy calm voices and safe distances as ākonga apply de-escalation techniques to a wide range of conflict situations. Today ākonga will be using hazard management, emergency response, legal authority, and conflict management skills in simulated security role plays, as a security officer.
